Moody Bible Institute strives to offer students a variety of financial aid options that can help make attending college more affordable. The Illinois MAP grant is another useful tool that enables Moody students from Illinois to earn a Christ-centered education while significantly reducing their college expenses.
The MAP grant is state-funded and based on need determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). It is available to all Illinois residents who meet the program’s eligibility criteria and demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA. It is awarded by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission.
Below is a list of requirements for the award:
- Available to Illinois residents only. If you are a dependent of your parents, they need to be Illinois residents as well.
- Undergraduates without a bachelor’s or professional degree are eligible.
- This grant is for students with a Student Aid Index of less than 9,000.
- The awards for 2025–2026 can vary from $300 to $8,400.
- Awards will be prorated for students with less than 15 credit hours per semester.
- If you are enrolled in less than 15 credit hours, the amount you actually receive will be based on the number of hours in which you are enrolled.
- Grants may be limited based on FAFSA application date, number of applicants, and funding levels appropriated by the Illinois General Assembly.
- Students are not eligible who have accumulated 135 MAP Eligibility Units (one credit hour is equivalent to one MAP eligibility unit.)
Your eligibility for the grant is determined by the information you include on your FASFA application, which we encourage you to complete as soon as possible. You are not required to complete a separate application for the MAP grant.
